Location: north of Bishop California on Hwy 395. I thought I'd try creating a panorama by hand (no photoshop). Improvement possible. Next time.

Do you see the dark frames? That can be prevented by getting your camera off the auto modes. As you are panning, the light will change from one area to another so your exposure will change if you use auto settings. So try not using auto w/b and instead using a set w/b like 5500 lum; don't use aperture or shutter priority, and use M or manual settings. I sometimes look through my camera while in aperture priority and pan to see what the average settings are and then change my camera to M and set the shutter, aperture and ISO. Double check your settings by looking at the meter as you pan without shooting. You will get consistent exposures from left to right and it will make your panorama more even. Don't forget to overlap by at least 1/3 of a frame.

Ok, so it isn't perfect, but still nice. I know exactly where on 395 you stopped for the photograph. To follow up on Jeep, did you have a polarizer on at the time of the pano?

Yup. You're right. I was in too much of a hurry to get back on the road. Thanks.

No polarizer. I know that a polarizer changes the depth of color in the sky. Didn't need it anyway as the air was crystal clear.
