You missed your chance - should have printed one of your images and hung it in those frame like sculptures - 'course, may have meant time in the police station but you could have had a few minutes of framed fame. :)
Let's not give up on Detroit quite yet! Three years ago my wife and I were on the Ambassador Bridge waiting to re-enter the U.S. when I noticed this building I'd never noticed before {see #1}. After we got through immigration/customs we went looking and found #2 facing an attractive park. I turns out that this is "Michigan Central" railroad station. According to the Internet, the upper stories of this building never were finished; now the same company that owns the bridge {I never thought of international bridges as being something that someone owns} also owns the building.
