Do you guys/gals experience the same? Seems with nearly every update to CC (PS or LR), I have to go through the process of updating video drivers also in order to make OpenCL work with the software. On my desktop (my primary machine), I'm using an Nvidia GeForce GTX 745 adapter with 4Gb of memory.
Today's PS update required new drivers to get the performance boost.
Thanks for your comments.
I am going to check tonight. I downloaded the updates last night, but did not use the programs.. I will let you know when I find out.

Nope, not once have I needed to update or change anything - the new software comes down from Adobe, installs and works seamlessly.
I do run a Mac though.

Adobe software is able to use the GPU (graphics processing unit) on good graphics cards to offload some of the workload. On a Mac, Apple will provide those updates to the graphics drivers behind the scenes as part of OS updates or firmware updates. Windows may offer them as "Optional" and not "Critical" updates through Windows Updates. But Adobe will see the out of date driver on Windows and then suggest the update so that its software can use the new features.
Microsoft has learned not to push updates it does not control as it does not want to be blamed for what goes wrong. Apple has learned to control the whole process and just does it well.

I have 2 custom PCs running Win 10 Pro and Home and so far have not needed to update drivers with any CC update.
I have not had any problems with video drivers. My computer is pretty new though so I hope I don't have any problems. I did have a problem with one of the updates when it popped up a message every time I started Photoshop telling me that I needed to reinstall my plugins because there is a problem with the "generator". I looked up the error message but didn't find a clear cut way to fix it without doing extensive "registry" mining. So I ignored it and when the last update came out it was gone. So I'm guessing that Adobe fixed it. Thank God.
Hi Bruce,
I've never had that circumstance.

I really don't have any idea, but maybe it has to do with you having such tiny memory!
His video graphics card has 4 GB of RAM - that's pretty large. I'm sure his PC has sufficient RAM - probably 16+ GB

After each CC update, I go into Preferences|Performance|Advanced Settings to see that the OpenCL checkbox is ticked. Too many times, it isn't, and it isn't available to be checked. The only way to get it back is to update the Nvidia drivers.
This isn't a new thing for me, nor the only machine it happens on. My notebook needs the updated graphics drivers to get OpenCL at times, also. It isn't a big thing, but I got curious if others experienced it also.
I have an AMD Radeon video card which AMD updates regularly

Further update Just installed the PS update and the Use Graphics Processer is checked
Well I opened the cc 2017 for both PS & LR. Worked like a charm. I did run into one issue. LR thought I was a new user and asked me to register? I was too tired to do that. Over the next couple of days I will enter my keys and fix that. Other than that it worked fine.
