Eneloop battery charger

Saw a 10-pack of the Eneloop AA batteries at Costco this evening, and decided to try them. We have a couple of AA battery chargers at home already. Is there any reason why I would need the Eneloop brand charger? The packaging says they recommend the Eneloop charger for best performance. Is that just their marketing hype, or is there a difference in chargers?

Thank you.

I use a 16-battery charger that's not made by Eneloop.
Been using it for maybe 5 years without a problem.
Just try to see that the spec's are close to the same.

No there is no reason to buy just an Eneloop charger. I use a Maha charger that charges eight batteries at a time, It's available from Thomas Distributing Company

So with the charger you are not just limited to the Eneloop charger

There are chargers and chargers. This is the one I use with Enneloops. Technoline BL-700 http://www.batterylogic.co.uk/technoline/technoline-BL700.asp
It took all my old rechargables as well and recycled them, so that I now get around 50% extra performance from them.

There is a special charger absolute necessary for Li-po's Like in your camera and laptop.
But for your usual rechargeable AA any good charger will do.

I have been using my Energizer charger for my Eneloops for about 4 years with no problems.
