Sentimental Journey is the nickname of a B-17G Flying Fortress bomber based at the Commemorative Air Force Museum in Mesa, Arizona. They fly over Fountain Hills on the weekends on way out to Saguaro Lake Reservoir and back over McDowell Mountains. This has to be on everyones to do list when they come to Valley of the Sun. These photos were taken on Saturday with my Nikon D5500 camera with the 300mm lens. I had the setting set on scene and sports mode that gave me six frames per second. I took the photos right from my patio. Enjoy!

I met a WW2 pilot 10 years ago who flew that plane in Europe. Those are some great looking shots too.

love Air Shows ---
Will be attending an Air Show this coming Saturday
Your photos are OK
Suggestion ----
Try setting-up a shutter speed of/around of 1/100
This will produce some pretty good looking Prop Blur

What a plane they were I grew up listening to my uncle Eds stories about his flights over germany he would show me his medals and let me hold them he was part of the reason that I went joined the military I wanted to experience what he had experienced as I was young and impressive I did not realize then what it took to earn the name hero and all those medals, I came home with some medals I sure did not feel like I deserved them, I was and still am in many ways broken from way back in Vietnam where I served yet he understood me better than my parents and sister and some of my other relation, he was a person I could talk with and not be judged. God bless him and all those other before us who served and did not complain. I miss him dearly. He lived to be 90 years old and accomplished many great things during his life including giving me inspiration. He wrote a book a book on the B-17's here is a link you may be interested https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=15&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwj1rNHZkNDTAhVQ5WMKHcJ8A5sQFghaMA4&url=http%3A%2F%2Fbookstore.trafford.com%2FProducts%2FSKU-000147610%2FMissing-Planes-of-the-452nd-Bomb-Group.aspx&usg=AFQjCNEn8n7ujIchiFemw5Y7PQIeKMkDSw&sig2=8VdHSOjItnmX2Lwv40Tfgg

Makes me think of the poem, The Death of The Ball Turret Gunner, by Randall Jarrell...

From my mother's sleep I fell into the State,
And I hunched in its belly till my wet fur froze.
Six miles from earth, loosed from its dream of life,
I woke to black flak and the nightmare fighters.
When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose.

Beautiful photos of a beautiful plane. My father's brother Lt. William F. McKenna was a bombardier on one and sadly I never met him as he was shot down over the Bay of Biscay in 1944.

I've taken a lot of photos over the last 6 months. Some may be of interest to some people.
I added a couple more photos of the B-17 flying over on another weekend from a different direction.

I also started a blog site where a lot of my photos are available to my family and friends.
I call it Fountain Hills Photos "Out & About" https://fountainhillsphotos.blogspot.com

It has been 118 degrees here in Arizona this last week, so I'm inside rather than "Out and About" taking photos.

Enjoy the My Photos,
