Nice shots of a beautyful bird. I got a close up picture of one standing in a field close to the road a few years ago.
That's great. I'll have to keep trying for a close up. It was interesting to watch them fly as a small, 8-10, flock and maneuver as if they are "formation" flying. Thank you for your comments.
Great shots! We had one here last year (Massachusetts on New Hampshire border) which was the first time I had ever seen one as it was rare to see one here. Unfortunately I did not have my long lens at the time so could only got a few distant shots. Beautiful shorebird. Hopefully, he might return this year so I can get a better photo
Thanks. This was my first time seeing an Avocet so it was a nice surprise and I'm glad I had my camera with me. Maybe you'll get another chance this year.
Very nice and beautiful set, Diptera!

Nice job! One comment though, be careful of oversaturating the sky as you have done in the flight shot. Watch for the halos forming along the contrasty edges adjacent to the blue.
Thanks. The early morning sky was really blue and I did over saturate it as you pointed out. The halo affect you mentioned is definitely there, something I overlooked.
