Nikon 10-24 Lens Problem

I just bought a used Nikon 10-24 DX lens from BH. It's in great condition and I used it this past weekend.

After putting the photos on my Mac, I noticed that the left side of the photos were slightly blurry while the right side was crystal clear. I have never seen nor heard of anything like this.

I am calling BH in a few hours. It is still under warranty, and so will return and buy a new lens - even though I will have to dish out $200 more.

Otherwise I love this lens. Any thoughts out there on what is wrong with the lens I bought? I am shooting with the D5300. Thanks all!

I'm sorry but I don't understand how you can..."love this lens" with the issues you cited.

I like the wide angle view for landscape and architectural photos.

View is one thing. Being able to capture it with your lens issues is another.

In the past someone may have dropped it on a carpet in a way that you won't see any dings, scratches, nicks, etc but the internal parts are not right. A lens element or two may be out of alignment. My take, anyway.

Sounds like it may have been dropped, you now have a de-centered lens.

I agree with others that have stated that the lens optics could be off alignment. This will require overhauling the lens and aligning the optics a job that I would have it done by Nikon.
Perhaps B&H could fix the lens for you under warranty.

My guess would be that it was damaged in shipping and B & H's warranty should protect you along with a claim to the shipper for the damage. You should be able to have it repaired for no charge and I'm sure B & H will take charge to have that done.
