Panasonic Repair Recommendation

My Panasonic ZS40 travel camera is in need of repair (splashed with water and dropped in the same accident!). I googled this and got listings for Panasonic's service center in Texas and Precision Camera also came up as a Panasonic authorized repair center. Some others listed were Royal and United but it wasn't clear if they are Panasonic authorized (I'm not sure if that's actually important). Any recommendations, especially if there are any facilities to avoid? TIA.

I have read on this forum that the repair facility in Texas is good. Also Precision Repair in Enfield, Connecticut specializes in repairing Sony cameras. However, they do fix other brand cameras. And have a very good reputation overall. Good luck.

I had good results for my LX100 by the Texas repair facility. Fast turnaround, correct repair.

Thanks to both of you for the info. I'll try Panasonic's Texas facility.

KEH has a repair center that charges fixed prices for cameras, lenses, and other items. Suggest you check it out. https://www.keh.com/shop/repair

FYI ...

You MAY-or-may-NOT find that it will be less expensive to buy a USED-or-new replacement than to have your damaged camera repaired ...

Otherwise, Panasonic's Texas facility is highly recommended -- fast, friendly, and very competent ...

The estimate is FREE, so your only initial cost will be whatever postage-or-shipping-cost you spend to send the camera to them ...

However, be forewarned that there is a very STEEP minimum (base) fee for any work that is actually performed.

Good luck.

Thanks for the input. Yes, I also have had the thought that it may be less expensive to buy a replacement. However, the ZS40 is a discontinued model and I have been surprised how expensive used ones are on ebay and amazon. I really do like this little camera for what I use it for - travel and scouting/peview of landscape locations to shoot with my dslr. I shall have to see what Panasonic's estimate is for repairs and then decide.

I also sent an inquiry to Precision Camera and got a reply back that Panasonic is a brand they no longer service, which I thought odd.

If the repair cost is too high and you feel comfortable messing with the camera, there are some really detailed videos on YouTube that show you how to fix that and other models in the ZS series.
