Good morning everyone. I have been reading this forum for a few months, and I eagerly await the email every morning to see what new "goodies" have ben posted. I figured it was time to come out of the shadows and into the light. I have been shooting most of my life, from 110, 126 and kodak disc (I cannot remember what type of cameras, just that I was in middle school and high school) to 35mm (Minolta Maxxum) to Fuji (s602z) to Nikon d70, and currently d7000. I have yet to purchase a 2.8 lens, due to cost, but I DO see one in my future. I shot a lot of sports to share with other parents, and have moved on to scenery and people (not as much sports). I must humbly admit, that I believed my work to be decent until I saw what some of the people here can do. Kudos to you all.
Since I have recently retired, I hope to do a lot more improving (like getting off of the scene modes,,,). Thanks for sharing and giving us a safe place for learning and constructive criticism with a little fun thrown in for good measure. I have not chosen my avatar photo yet, but it is coming :)

Welcome to the forum, Jroby1.

Ahhhh - disk cameras - I forgot I even had one of those - it was a free gift when whoever made them fashioned some deal with the company I was working for at the time. We all got one. I think I bought 1 extra disk for it before deciding it wasn't worth the cost and bother.

I used it for a good portion of my jr/senior year in high school and directly after. I purchased mine and have about 40 negetive discs tucked away upstairs. It was so funny that the negs were in disc form too. You are correct though, the medium was a bit of a fail.

Welcome!

Yes, I had one of those disk cameras also; got it for my high school graduation 30 years ago!

TOTALLY AGREE!!
Photograph what YOU want to, then judge it YOURSELF and by those around you when they view it. There are many awesome pictures that get harshly just from a technical standpoint, that are still AWESOME, PLEASING photos, so just keep shooting and enjoying your hobby!!

Thanks Wahawk, for backing me up. When i was teaching beginning photography, the first thing i told my students was "There are 3 things i teach.... the mind to think, the eye to see and the heart to feel. When all three of those come together, you have everything!!!!!!!!!!! Rich2236

Welcome. The more I see others work here, the more I realize much I have to improve (but that's a good thing (usually).
