Unexpected Osprey

I was out looking for early warblers and caught this osprey out the corner of my eye. Grainy. 5DIII, ISO 800, ridiculously high shutter speed 1/8000. I was just firing at will hoping for the best. I wondered about the grain. Original and crop. Thanks for looking

Beautiful bird. I find it interesting that they carry the "catch of the day" in a direction that makes it more aerodynamic.

I was in aperture preferred mode, expecting to be shooting ground shots. Just happened to catch the osprey in time to start firing. Or, the other answer is, I didn't think. :)
