Sunset at the Grand Canyon

I took these 4/15/2017 with a 70-200 f-4 on a D800E in my spare time while photographing a wedding photographer and his subjects. I posted those under "Wedding Photography at the Grand Canyon". The haze was incredible. The wind the prior few days had been very high. Although it was not windy this day.

Beautiful photos, especially for those of us who have never been there.

Just a suggestion regarding your photos #'s 1 & 2 --- I feel you would have really improved your outcome if you had via spot metering have found some mid-tone (getting as close to 18% gray as possible) Plenty of that appears to exist either left / right of the sun -- Mark down the spot meter settings then put the camera into "manual" then plug in the spot metered setting -- Then take the shot --- Shots like yours are why I like to use a light meter --- Do like the last 2 shots

I used the lightroom dehaze gadget to get them so that I could actually see details. Then I manipulated them brutally in Lightroom. I also bracketed very heavily with no great success. The haze was killing me. The camera would not autofocus. I have taken sunset pictures from these two overlooks 15-20 times. I never had this happen.

I was there the previous weekend and same conditions (strong wind the day before, calm the next) and haze wasn't as strong for sunset photos. Have found the DeHaze tool, slider, at bottom of Lightroom on right side to be a great assist in editing photos, even when you don't see haze. Nice photos and like the "blue" in #3 & #4.

The dehaze gadget is mostly responsible for the "blue" or at least the enhanced blue. I have found the dehaze gadget useful at times to add effects that I like as you point out even without haze.
