Thank you. The camera settings are not important as this image is a Photoshop creation. I have done hundreds of these - most based either on pictures of flowers or of fireworks. They usually work best if there are no man-made objects in the original photo. To get the teardrop effect, however, I put a shiny object at the bottom center of the original (in this case it was a glazed clay flowerpot).
Here is before and after shot with this technique.
Here's another before and after - this time with the painted wall in the background causing some undesirable effects in the finished job.
To make one of these, open a picture in Photoshop.
Then (FILTER-DISTORT-POLAR COORDINATES-POLAR TO RECTANGULAR)
Then (IMAGE-ROTATE-180 DEGREES)
Then (IMAGE-SIZE-X BY X) where X is the size you want. Be sure that the "constrain proportions" button is unclicked.
Then (FILTER-DISTORT-POLAR COORDINATES-RECTANGULAR TO POLAR)
This will create images like the ones I've posted. There are other tricks as well to change the colors on the corners, choosing combos of colors etc, but this will get you started.

Wonderful pictures! What version of Photoshop do you need?
Maybe with age the brain slows down too much as I am not getting the tech, below is a flower photo I took could you explain again using my photo I think the part that lost me is the shiny object in the center thing. thanks jimbob
Love it. I hope you don't mind my adding one of mine. It has a man made object in it tho. That would be me, and my house

OK jimbob51, here are your two photos distorted this way. I didn't spend any time adjusting colors, which I sometimes do if I'm going to print and hang them. (There are 40+ of these in 20 inch x 20 inch hanging in the offices where I work - each one unique, and 3/4 of them flowers the rest fireworks).
Four steps as listed earlier. Should take one minute or less unless you want to do some color tweaking. Forget the shiny part for now - that was just there to put the teardrop in the first one I posted.

I don't know when the POLAR DISTORT filter came out - probably CS2 or earlier. I've been doing these for years.
