As a hobby, I mostly take pictures of people, (Portraits) Functions, and some outside nature photography. I am thinking of buying a new camera but am a bit undecided, COSTCO is selling a Nikon D7200 bundle (AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm VR II and AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm VR Lens, 32GB SD Card, Camera Bag, Extra Battery & 2 Year Extended Warranty $1,349.99. Good deal? Good Camera?
I appreciate your advise...

I just bought the D7200 and love it. It performs well in low light. I didn't buy it in a kit, but bought the 18-300mm f3.5-6.3 instead of the kit lenses (what can I say, I prefer the convenience of a single lens). I don't think you could go wrong with that deal. For the package, that sounds like a great price.

I own a 7200 and love it. That deal looks really good. Just check to see if it has a US warranty.

Also have the D7200 and love it. I understand that shortly they will be releasing the D75oo so the price may drop. It has been around long enough that there may be some good refurbishe ones or used out there. Its a great cameral.

I would buy a refurbished or used D7200 , for around $600 at the most . Then pick up a refurb or used lens that you want for $600 or $700
It should last you ten or more years , at taking 10000 pic a year , but the lens will keep going for a few life times if it's looked after .

Great camera! Marginal lenses for a great camera. I keep a Nikkor 18-200 VR ll on mine most of the time. Super combination.

I'm not so sure the D7500 will have a major effect on the D7200 price as it's not really the D7200's successor, more like a cross between the 7000 series and the 500.

I agree. The D7500 is not really a replacement for the D7200 as Nikon plans to keep selling it as a new camera even as the D7500 comes to market. Go for the D7200.

It doesn't have to be the successor, just has to be a little more up to date with technology, pluse a little more of this or that , and there will be glut of 7200 on the used market, and a bunch of new owners of a d7500 ,

Is the D7100 the cheap sister or brother to the D7200? What's the difference as I see D7100 all over the place.

Rich, this review of the D7200 by Thom Hogan, and his article today about the D7500, may help ease your decision !

I recently went through a similar decision and went with the 7100 the big difference that I was aware of was the wireless connectivity on the 7200. A feature i did not place much value in so isaved myself a little money and bought the Tokina 11 - 16 lens.

The d7200 is a great camera and will give you years of service without default. But, just as an aside, the NEW NIKON D7500 just came out but the body is $1250.00. So if you bundled it with your deal it might reach $1600.
