What adapter to connect Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 lens w/ Canon mount to Sony a6000 and maintain autofocus capability?

I have a Sony a6000 and recently acquired a Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 with Canon mount, intending to use my Commlite EF-Nex adapter to connect the Sigma lens to the Sony a6000. The Commlite adapter generally gave some degree of autofocus capability with Canon EF and EF-s lenses attached thereby to the a6000. I mistakenly assumed that the same would hold true with regard to the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8, reasoning that because it had a Canon mount and was designed to function on Canon cameras, it should therefore behave like a Canon lens. In fact, I find that the Sigma will not even begin to autofocus with the Commlite adapter on the a6000. (The combo can be used in manual focus mode.) My research indicates that there may be adapters made by Viltrox, and perhaps others, that will allow this lens/camera combo to autofocus, but the reviews/comments that I have read are less than clear to me on this matter. I do not wish to pay $400 or more for a Metabones solution, even if there is one. Your advice and guidance will be appreciated.

Sigma makes their own MC-11 adapter to mount EF mount Sigma lenses to Sony E mount bodies with full functionality.

Thank you for your response. I googled the Sigma MC-11. Information that I found indicates that Sigma has published a list of 15 Sigma lenses that are specifically averred to be "compatible" with the MC-11. To my chagrin, the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 is not one of those 15 lenses. That seems rather strange to me, and I do not know what to think about the whole situation.
