I'd like to thank "Rocky" for sending his owls over my way! I'll send them back in November.

Thanks, they were only there for about 4 days that I know of. They're gone but we are still looking for them.

Thanks Erv, the one shot was done almost at dark on an overcast day, but it's the only shot with one of the owls holding a vole. Short-eared owls really know how to put on a show.

Love these! Very nice job! I have been watching some short-eared owls in our area in Ohio for a few months now. I really haven't had good light but once. According to Bruce Peterjohn's The Birds of Ohio, short-eared owls leave Ohio in February and March with a few instances of some staying through the summer. The ones that I have been watching are still here, so I am going to see for how long.

Thanks, my intro to Rocky is because these owls stay on the other side of the state for. about 4 months and cross the mountains and breed on this side. Rocky posted pictures when I couldn't find any here, November through February.. These are my most favorite owls to photograph because they are so active

Thanks Madman, about to leave and go out and try to find some more. Those were my first encounter with SEO's.

Thanks so much, I'd love to spend some time in your neck of the woods and do some birding. I really like all kinds of owls but these are my favorite.
