Got up to Maribor for only the third time. This represents quite a change from last year when round-trips overnight happened twice weekly. Had a chance to meet a UHHer from Maribor and grab a beer along the river. Didn't have a lot of time in the morning to wander with the camera. Had planned on staying along the river until the unmistakeable sounds of a marching band wafted through the air. No choice for this former trombone player. Follow the drumbeat.
Tuba distortion. Unfortunately the front of the bells had a cover with the name of the band.

French horns at rest. Can't imagine the embouchure needed for the tiny French horn mouthpiece compared with the trombone.

I like the arched walk way and the pizzeria plants. I like live music, especially outdoors. Our city park has band concerts in the summer in a band shell.

Thanks for commenting. The band was very small but played very well. Perfectly in tune, no sour notes. Had a big sound for a small group.
You always have a sharp eye for the things that make a city come alive. Thanks for posting this great series. It's always nice to see and learn about other places.

Thanks. I hear a brass band and I am directly from The Music Man. Encountering the band definitely ramped up an already good mood.
Nice photos, Father Jack. I like them all. They make a nice record of your visit, I think.

Thanks. They will be a very nice record when I pop them on the screen saver on my desktop at home.
Nice set of photos. They are far away from the normal pictures posted. I like that. Great work, great eye.

Thank you for the kind compliment. Hearing a small marching band sent the creative juices into heavy flow. While having coffee with a student we saw the band gathering. After walking back to the house to get the camera I heard them just starting out. I felt like an extra in The Music Man.
Beautiful, very interesting shots, frjack, as always!
Thank you. Maribor has a different feel from Ljubljana. It is much smaller and laid back. But I suspect as many cafes per capita and LJ.

Thanks. How did the move go?
It was a bigger job than we ever could have imagined! But we're in and settled and unpacked our last boxes today! Yipppeee! Thanks for asking!
It is pleasing to see pictures of the day to day look of Maribor. I especially like the cobblestoned archway as well as the marching band; the shots of the tuba are vey interesting.
