Windows 7 Color Management Advanced Tab

Does anyone have suggestions on Windows 7 Color Management Advanced Tab settings. I'd really like to hear from those people that understand color space and how these settings might be improved upon. My next topic will be about other color space questions but for now I just want to tackle one color space setting at a time.

Yeah, don't mess with it. It took over a month through trial and error to get it back in order after trying to tweak it.

I'd like to hear others' thoughts as well before I reset things to Adobe RGB

273 view and a lot of smart people here on UHH and nobody knows what there is to know about color space. What are you poeple doing? Are you just taking your shot in sRGB, editing and then taking a thumb drive to Costco or where ever? Do any UHH members make changes to your image editing program color settings? Anybody heard of Pro Photo color space? How about Adobe RGB? How about icc profiles?

I've had problems printing images on my own printer. My friend took some images to Sams Club and all the skys were purple. Anybody have that problem? Well if you do, it's because of improper color management and color space settings. I've been reading a lot about this but was really hoping that a professional photographer from this site might have more answers about this subject.

I don't mess with it because I have a Dell Ultrasharp monitor calibrared with Spider 4. My prints come out just the way I see them on my printer or anywhere else I send them including UHH. I seemed to have had the same problem before I got a decent monitor. If you're using a 15 or 17 inch laptop uncalibrated good luck with obtaining any color rendition. It's like picking a card and hoping you get the ace of spades..............

My problem is that I read a book - that is where my troubles began because now I think I know something, but I just scratched the surface of color management. Once I know that there are adjustments to be made that can improve ones work, I can't leave well enough alone and have to play with it. Anyway, I think I've figured it out. I just wanted to talk to an expert that knows all the ins and outs of color management, color spaces and icc profiles. So far not one person on UHH has responded with this kind of knowledge. I get a lot of "I don't mess with it" or "it took me a year to get it back the way it was" but no real experts.

you shouldnt have to change the default settings .however if you want to tailor make your colors for your printer or any other devise
if the default settings are not to yur liking or dont fit your specific requirements ..these options are generally meant for unusual color.
in the old days you would choose ..say agfa;kodak;perutz.etc to suit your color favourites. these days you have a lot more options as to the color you wish to make your shots more of a style.

My only answer is HELP - switched my camera from sRGB to Adobe RGB. Then I went into Windows 7 color management and tried making the appropriate changes there (by the way - Windows 7 has a monitor calibration feature - used it and seemed to help). I have a 8 year old Dell 15 inch monitor so that may be contributing to my problem which is can't get my prints to look like what was on my monitor.

Also, my printer (Epson Stylus Photo R380) has a color management feature that is accessed through the computer. Have tried to get them all coordinated but have to admit, do not always know what I am doing, even after reading the instructions.

Again HELP - even tried finding a class to help me but around here nothing but beginning classes offered.

Peek,

This really helped a lot. I had the box unchecked. I thought I had figured it out but logic has nothing to do with it. Thank you for taking the time to look for this link. It worked very well.
