Unwanted Epson Printer Driver Reset

I process and print from LR CC to an Epson Artisan printer. Problem (just a hassle, really) is the driver won't remember that I want the ICM turned off. So, before every print session, I have to reconfigure the driver parameters, because Epson wants to "help me out" with its photo enhance stuff, over-riding my LR print settings. Anybody have a solution?

Not a problem when I'm doing serious printing because I'll always check before wasting a large piece of paper. But, like this morning, I went in to run a fast set of 4x6 prints from the grandkid's school play. Pulled them into LR, changed the WB, did a fast crop, everything looked good on screen, so I selected a half-dozen and hit the print button. The result was 6 wasted sheets of paper, time lost, and a bruise on my forehead after slapping myself for forgetting to check the driver.

I know you can't fix stupid (or lazy), but it sure would be nice if Epson would get out of my way.

Anybody?

In the print module, set Color handling to Photoshop Manages Colors? This is another reason I dumped my Epson Stylus and went to a Canon Pro-100

In Windows goto Devices and Printers, locate the Artisan, right click on the icon, choose "Printing Preferences" and set the printer the way you want it to work. when you OK out of that, the settings should remain for subsequent prints. Try it, but check first that the settings are "sticky".

If you have a Mac. the above probably works, but I have never tried it.

Are you using Win OS? If so,

1. Go to Devices and Printers, find your printer, right click on it, you should have a menu which will give you: printer properties, printer preferences.
2. Printer properties will allow you to set up the printer defaults. If you then go to printer preferences, the settings should be the same. If you start with Preferences, it is a one time change.
3. Administrative tools, print management, will bring up a list of your printers and their status. Click on your printer and it should bring up the same as Devices and Printers, and recheck your settings.

If you use the same procedure in your PP software, the setting should stick. Some cleaning software will strip this out of your PP software, so check it out to make sure it does not.

Thanks Linary and N4646W, that seems to have done the trick. Who do I send the check to?

$50 to each UHH member for staying in touch with current events and paying attention, with a $200 bonus for anyone that responded.

So that's about $37,000 plus postage, so about $55K in total. Sounds like a good deal to me. Will you provide a tracking number?

When you do, don't forget to set color management to >OFF<!!

Whoops, probably the most important point. But if you do this in the PP software printer set up, (file, printer ), it should also stick for that software, and allow you to leave the printer or printers to standard settings for all other programs. You may have to check some of your cleaner programs and see if they strip the settings out of your PP software. If they do, then your stuck with setting them up each time unless you configure them through "Devices and Printers".

User Templates in the print module of Lightroom is the answer to your problem.

Set up the Printer Module the way you want it and then go to the "left hand" panel. click on "User Templates" --- give it a name such as "4 x 6 Epson Glossy" or whatever, and next time you want to print with that paper and size you only need click on that template and you're good to go.

Yeah... about the slap to the forehead. Does not really cause you to remember when it counts. I have found that a good hard fist to the nuts is far more effective and nobody sees the bruise. Well not everybody!
