D750 wifi

I posted this in the Sports section but got no response, so here it is (slightly edited) in the hope of some response. Thanks in advance.

I take a lot of amateur sports in competition with other photogs. It is a rush to get the images online to the same website and who uploads first gets the "worm".

So to speed up the process how can I use my D750 wifi to instantly upload my pics to a phone or tablet and then delete the unnecessary images and then upload from the iPhone or iPad to the website?

I know that the Nikon software can be used to receive the pics from the camera but how does this work in practice?
Has anyone uploaded from an iPhone/iPad to a 3rd party website and how is this done?

Any and all help and guidance gratefully received.

I've never used that feature of the D750, but look at page 281 - in the manual.

Thanks for the prompt reply jerryc41. I have read the manual but am seeking some practical advice on using wifi and then how to upload to a 3rd party website from an iPad, which I understand is problematic.

Perhaps I should expand on my OP. I upload hundreds of images from my iMac to a 3rd party website after an event and it is this part I wish to replicate from an iPad after using the wifi on my D750.

I have a D750, an iPhone and the Nikon software for IOS. In my opinion, in order to accomplish what you want, a quick upload to a website, you would need a second person to be downloading the photos to your iPhone (or Android) device while you are shooting. Once downloaded, you can then post your photos the same as any photo on the iPhone.

I found that I can be shooting, or downloading, but not both (unless I grow another set of hands and eyes).

And I found that I like to post-process all my photos before I let others see them, so downloading them to the iPhone does not work for me.

If your iPad has wi-fi +cellular connectivity you can connect to LTE and the website directly from the iPad. If your iPad is WiFi only you have the extra step of having the phone do the sending. However. When I want to connect to the internet with my wi fi only iPad I simply use the iPhone as a hot spot my going to settings and enabling that feature on both devices. This is slower than directly from the iPad but I cheated out on the model when I bought my air II. You do not have to load the photos to the phone and then send.

Thank you cmc65, you are truly an iPad meister. You correctly guessed my iPad is wifi only and provided the solution. I have just tested it and it is a bit slow but it works!

I will need to change my mobile phone contract to allow the volume of uploads!

Just remember that the phone hotspot usually shuts off if you turn your phone off and needs to be selected again. I live in Rhode Island. When they fire off rockets in Virginia we go down to the beach, connect our iPads to our phones and watch the launch on the iPad and as soon as it comes off the top of the screen we can look up and see it on the horizon over the ocean and then into the sky through all stages. It's wayyyy cool.

Hi Picsman,

I connect my iPhone, tab & galaxy mobile to my D750 via an app called WMU (Nikon). Its a great program & can also be used as a remote control to take photographs via the mobile. I find it more convenient & easier to use than the new Nikon Snapbridge that I used for the D500.

I mainly use Nikon WMU to transfer photos from my camera to my mobile. Once the camera & phone are paired up / connected, I then select photographs on the camera which I want transferred. These images can be transferred at the actual image size or as a reduced size image. I transfer the reduced size images, which I then upload to social media or forward to clients as samples for my work.

Hope this helps you.

regards,
Keyur

Thanks Keyur,
I intend to use the WMU to upload all images to my iPad and then review and delete and finally upload to a website while driving home. At least that's the plan.
