So I'm browsing Craig's List the other day and I run across a Manfrotto tripod for $45. I should have sent off a reply then and there even though the ad has been listed for 11 days. I procrastinated for two days before I sent off a reply. Result ... he sold the thing two hours before he got my email ... DAMN!
Bummer.
Just as bad as the stores nowadays, if you see something and think you might want it, get it because it won't be there in two weeks.....
As they say, "He who hesitates is . . . ." Sorry you missed out!! Been there, done that !
Sorry to hear that ... the old addict ... never put off till tomorrow what you should have done yesterday. My suggestion ... a bit of patience and soon you'll have another opportunity. Best wishes.

At $45 there was probably something wrong with it. You're probably fortunate you didn't buy it.
like bidding on ebay.....it requires constant attention to "win" the item.
Cant count the number of items Ive lost out on in the last 15 seconds of bidding !
I've gotten several really good deals from CL, but I only buy things locally where we can meet in a public place and I can see the item first-hand. A few things I've bought recently include a Canon 50mm f1.4 lens (in excellent condition for $225), a Canon 135 F2 lens, also excellent condition, for $700 and a Domke Photog vest in very good shape for $50. But probably the best deal was for a really nice Photogenic model TA34SU light stand for $35! (This sells new for $200 on Adorama and mine is like new). A professional photographer was selling it because he was 80 years old and finally decided to retire! I've also sold a few items on CL with good success.
2 months ago a women in San Antonio was selling an item on CraigsList and exercised every precaution and agreed to meet in a large grocery store parking lot in daytime.
When she met the buyer he had two other guys with him who stole the item and stabbed her.
Fortunately she survived and the scumbags were caught.
When I buy or sell an item on CraigsList I subscribe to the Mantra ..."In Glock We Trust"

The way I see it, if the winning bid exceeded the maximum I was willing to pay, then it was not meant to be. Of course if you did not bid your maximum and the item sold for less, then you can only blame yourself for not winning.
