A few from my cycle home from work,an old lock that had been renovated and now unfortunately has been vandalised and left to rot.
I've posted pics from here in the past with Sasha but it's much worse now,it's a shame really because i believe a lot of money
was spent on renovation.

Your right Stephen a lot of money was spent on the renovation, then the vandals moved in.I'm almost sure that this was one of the first ever locks and was built in 1765.Excellent set of photos.

Excellent Glen and such a shame! We have a very similar one allowing access between the Chickahominy river and the Chickahominy lake that was rebuilt several years ago sand made from more modern materials (concrete and steel) but still operates almost exactly as that one does.

How sad it is that many canal preservation societies labour long and hard to reinstate the canals, only for mindless moronic cretins to come along and do their worst.

Glad you enjoyed them ,I think the gizmo original had a handle attached and was maybe used for opening lock gates?
