I also like pictures behind home plate if I can get the ball, the bat, and the batter all at once.

I'd love to see some experimentation with dept of field.

I'm totally ignorant there. Would give me a chance to learn something. When the camera focuses on the batter, I trash the pic. I want a pic of the pitcher, not the batter -- he's the enemy, ha!

Important to have fun! Did you try to spot focus on your subject and use larger numbered aperture numbers like F5 or F8 or maybe even larger numbered one depending on your light? I'd say your're almost there!

SquareRoot..I think these two are very good shots...
I think that I would like the first one though just showing the pitcher...The second one is fantastic

Nice job. I have shot some of these and usually zoom back a bit so that you don't get the compression you get when zoomed out and you can show more of the batters body as well as all of the pitcher. But it is just a matter of taste, no right or wrong.

Seeing these pictures reminds me of an article I read one time about a great pro hitter whose name I don't remember. The article said he was so good because he could actually see the laces on a thrown ball so he knew what type of pitch was coming. Sounds impressive but I seriously question the truth of it.

Seeing the laces is one way the batter can tell what kind of pitch is being thrown....

I'm partial to getting shots from this perspective. You got some good ones!
