I have all photos (7,000+) on my Mac and a secondary hard drive. I have never used offsite storage and am considering Dropbox (recommended by a friend) or iCloud etc. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you!
Best deal going is Back Blaze. They don't restrict uploads to xxxMB per day. Last I checked 2 years subscription for just under $100.

I've used Carbonite for many years. I know there is a ton of others but Carbonite suits me just fine.
Might want to look at CrashPlan.
I use 128GB cards in my camera and upload the images to Bridge. I then place the cards in a safety deposit box. Cheap and effective insurance.

I have three external hard drives. One is on my computer. Stuff is backed up daily. One is in the house but not in my office. The backup disk is backed up every couple days. One is in my barn, a mile away from the house. The backup and the backup backup are backed up roughly monthly. When I back up to the barn drive, I rotate the drives so they all get approximately equal exercise.
Yes, I have to buy three drives, but there's no annual fee nor bandwidth issues.
