the cars there must look like 5 yo cars in Iowa.
Texas started using salts of various type on the hwy now days, it will not be long the vehicles will look like beach buggies, sad. Back in the '50s there were fresh water spray units at the
hwy leaving Galveston beach, but unfortunately they eventually went out of business. My Paternal Grandparents and my Dads Sis and BIL lived down there, we made the trip(~52mi) almost every weekend because my Dad was a saltwater fisherman as was my Uncle. You could identify the Galveston vehicles by the rusted bottoms of the panels.
A couple of yrs back I attended a paint&body class at the local Jr. College where we worked on our own vehicles. One of the students purchased a Charger that was original to Chicago area, as he started to replace the rear quarter panels he discovered the previous owner had replace the same quarters but he only added the new pcs on top of the old rotted panels, big surprise.
