does anyone know someone that likes to take cameras apart ? I have several pocket Nikons that have been dropped but

I know there is a minimum charged by Nikon for services. Are your pocket cameras worth repairing?

If you are looking for someone who just likes to take cameras apart, and possibly fix them, I'd be interested. If you are looking for a repair shop, that's different. I'd suggest nikonusa.com. If that isn't going to work for you, Tempe camera. tempecamera.biz

I like to take things apart, but for some reason I wind up with extra parts when I put them back together....

I'd be glad to take them apart. I take lots of things apart. As for repairing, that's another story. Nikon doesn't stock all parts for all the cameras it's ever made. I predict two things: Nikon will not work on the cameras; if they do work on them, the needed parts will not be available.

If you really like these compacts, you can find them in working order on ebay - for less than the cost of a repair. What models are they?

Trash those broken pocket cameras and begin to learn and use your new one.
The cost of repairs will put a big hole in your pocket and it is not worth it.

Someone told me that Nikon has a shortage on repair parts for the D300. And you may have your camera returned. Unfixed. That's a very good camera too.

You can find lots of people who like to take cameras apart, knowing what to do once they are apart is a different matter...take the camera to a reputable dealer for repair, if it's worth it.

I don't know the value of the cameras in question but if anyone has a Nikon that needs repair I would recommend http://www.nikoncamerarepair.com/ in IL. I've been there several times and they have rebuilt my Nikon F and PTN meter and helped me with issues that I had with my first digital D70. They also have rebuilt/refurbished lenses & cameras and I've been delighted with every transaction I've had.
