I've wanted to see the Gaudi structures since I came across him in a modern art course in college. Finally going to be in Barcelona for four days in May.

Great video. Now I know all the things I missed in Barcelona while on a one day stop on a cruise ship. We did get to see La Sagrada Familia and THAT was one of the most impressive pieces of
architecture I'd ever seen, but the interior hadn't been any where near completed at that time.

That is the problem with cruise ships, you tend to miss an awful lot of the countries you briefly visit. Personally, I don't do cruises. I much rather fly into a country, rent a car, and visit as many places as I can.

I know that many people enjoy going on cruises on large cruise ships. For myself, if I wanted the experience of being on the ocean, I would not want to be on a huge floating resort, but on a small boat instead, preferably a sail boat. I hope to have this experience in a few years in Greece where I found an ad for a sailboat cruise stopping at some of the smaller islands with cabins for no more than four couples. The other problem with these huge ships is that by contrast to traveling around in a rented car or in public transportation, you only get to skim the surface of the places in your port stops and you do that in the company of hundreds of other passengers. I have rented an apartment in Barcelona through HomeAway and plan to walk, use the subway and city buses to get to the various attractions. I have read that there is a huge problem of theft in Barcelona so I hope my precautions will do the trick. My wife acts as the lookout when I take a picture and I wear pickpocket proof pants. https://www.clothingarts.com/products/pickpocket_proof_adventure_travel_shorts. Also, my cameras are insured.
