What a great series of photos. I loved the red eye of the Phainopepla.

All very good, but that Western Kingbird is a wall-hanger. What great lines it has.

Just thought I would share a few more from the Borrego Springs area taken over the last couple of weeks.

The Burrowing Owls are a mated pair, as are the Phainopepolas. Its was nice to catch the White Winged Doves (not one of my favorite subjects) and the Western Kingbird perching in the blooming Ocotillos. Makes for some nice scenes. The Sage Thrasher was a nice bonus. I was leaving after my time with the mated Phainopepolas, camera on the drivers seat and a beanbag on my window, and came across this guy proclaiming his territory. I got off about 8 or so shots from the car window before he figured out I was interfering.

All of these shots were taken with a Canon 5DIV with 600mm IS II plus 14Xiii. All cropped a bit for composition.

Hope you birders enjoy. Constructive critiques are always welcome.

Excellent set, Frank, and almost unbelievable when double clicked! Thanks!

A very nice selection of birds Nalu.
You asked for constructive critiques.
If these were my shots I would do the following.
No.3. Remove the twig that is in front of the bird, it could be removed at the fork in the branch. It detracts from the shot.
No.5. Remove the flower that is in front of the bird. It competes for attention.
No.7. Very nice (My favourite), including background. But crop some off the top until the bird's eye crosses the top one third line. This should give the bird a stronger presence in the shot.
No.8. Crop off the flower on the left. It competes for attention.
