Lightroom has loupe overlays, the ones included are pretty useful but you can add your own. Just go to view menu > loupe overlay and choose overlay image. I'm making 3 one for viewfinder one for focus points and a third for metering. This one is designed for the Pentax K5 the Centre circle is where the light is measured for spot metering.

It certainly helps visualise what you were aiming at when you took the photo! :)

Ok I made some nice high quality overlays for the lightroom loupe in library and develop modules. The viewfinder ones are in gray black and white the central circle is where spot metering occurs and your centre focus point. The large bracketed central area equates to the area where centre weighted metering is measured.

Pentax has a 77 segment meter and i've made 3 versions for spot, centre-weighted and matrix, now you can see where it got its light values from.

I have done overlays for focus points solid and wire frame so you can see where should be in focus. The focus overlays are really only good for pentax and later pentax camera's have more... The view finder overlays should help you see what you were aiming at.

Active pentax focus points are given in the exif i've made single or all overlays if you want two active focus points you will have to make it yourself rather easy to be fair as you can take 2 of the png files and layer then to make a composite.
