Out watching a pair of Red Tailed Hawks building a nest I spotted these American White Pelicans settling in on the other side of a lake. I am still trying to find the limits of my Nikon 7100 and Sigma 150-600 f5-6.3 C lens so I took a photo as a trial. I must admit that I was not expecting a lot at that distance and settings. What I got convinces me that this is a very capable lens. The shot was about 400 ft away (by EXIF data) at 600mm, 1/1250s and 800 ISO and on a tripod. PP was PhotoNinja and GIMP with about 40% crop.
Great download. This is a neat capture and the detail looks very good.
Well spotted, looks good in the download.
Looks like a blustery day. A very cool shot with super detail.

Thank you, I was pleasantly surprised at the capability of this camera/lens combo.

Thanks Linda, yes as usual in Wyoming. And also it was late afternoon with a bit of haze.
Very nice for that distance and focal length.

Thank you, if I can now become consistent with this lens I will be happy indeed.
