Actually, traveled about the Kentucky Bluegrass Area yesterday on a great fund raising event for McConnel Springs. Annually they get the local wineries to do a barrel tasting, drive to as many wineries as you can, and taste unfinished wine straight from the barrel. Great time for a group event. $20 gets you a wrist bracelet (ticket), a wine glass, an a goodly amount of wine (each vineyard sampled 2 to 5 different wines) and a nice gift to help out a local historical park!
I was with 9 close wine drinking friends, 2 vehicles, two abused designated drivers, and 6 wineries!
Thought it deserved a differeng Point Of View! Of course the tool used to pull wine from the cask is called a Barrel Thief!

I remember going, with a friend, to a wine tasting a while back. I don't remember much of the tasting itself, though. From all accounts, we had a good time.
I particularly liked your photo of the industrial appearing 55 gal drum approach to aging wine.

I believe you meant Thieves, Thieves. I am familiar with the device; I saw it while visiting wineries in France. Interesting.

Thank you for your correction. I fear my two greatest annoyances in life seem to be my spelling, and my bird/duck identification skilks.
As for spelling, I beleive it was Mr Samuel Clemmons who claimed to have no respect for a man who could only spell a word one way, I take what little condolences I can in knowing that at least Mr Clemmons would find no reason not to respect me.
