Depends on what macro shots you want to take. Some focal lengths might be to short.

How about butterflies and insects in general. I would prefer a 135-150mm. 200mm if you like really smooth backgrounds.

Bokeh is dependent on aperture , distance and number of aperture blades.

These people are right about what your shooting but if I had to pick one for me it'd be the Tokina 100mm macro. I go out to the woods and shoot bugs so for me it's Tokina 100mm. Check with Dixie Girl on close ups and Nikon 72 on Macro sections. Good Luck.

I have the Sigma 180mm f2.8 OS macro + Sigma 1.4 TC and you are right, it does get a little heavy. It is, however, a brilliant bit of kit and enables me to get good shots much further away than any of my previous macro lenses. I love it. I bought a mint condition second hand copy for £800, a new one costs £1300. Here are two shots, the solitary bee is 180mm and the honey bee is 180mm + 1.4 TC. Both shot from a metre + away.

Excellent captures!!!

Which is the best Macro lens for the price for a Nikon mount.

Once you decide which lens you want, look at the Nikon web site, and search for "refurbished" Then search for the lens you want. They overhaul and inspect each lens but the price is much cheaper. Comes with a full warranty,

Refurbished items on Nikon's site only have a 90 day warranty.

Try Cameta camera, they have a one year warranty on all their refurbished lenses, and they are refurbished by Nikon also.

Yes, they extend the manufacture warranty out to 12 months with their own warranty. I just picked up a refurbished Nikon D610 from them.

Tokina 100mm f2.8 is very good and priced considerably below the competition. As with all macro lenses in this range it does well for portraits.

Yes, I was thanking everyone as I don't get a chance to read the comments as they come in, but rather do days later. I thought that would be appropriate. Sorry if I wasn't more specific.

My response was to pol2015, not the OP.
