Wow! Bookmarking this for sure. Some of my favorite players of all time. Carl Fontana was one of America's lesser known national treasures. Scott Hamilton probably one of the most underrated tenor players ever. Love the Cottontail version with the two tenors splitting the original Ben Webster chorus. Can't thank you enough for uncovering and sharing this.

You are welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. I was privileged, age 15, to take a train into NYC with HS friends and attend a couple of JATP concerts. Flip Phillips, Illinois Jacquet,
Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Charlie Shavers, Coleman Hawkins, Pres. (Lester Young), Roy Eldridge, Harry Sweets Edison and others. Fantastic!!! If you go to Youtube.com and search, you'll find other videos from that era.

I never played with those other guys, but Buddy used to come to the club where I played and sit in on the last set. After the gig, he would say "I know an after hours place where we can jam". He was like the voice of God in persuading this tired guy (me) to go for more (unpaid) sessions. I always thought we were the same age but he was a bit older and certainly had more instrumental technique. Fantastic clarinetist.
