"Water" Assignment

I was out on a grey post-snowy day today thinking I'd get some nice running water shots. But this reflection study is the one that I actually ended up liking. Posted a jpg of the unedited RAW and the one with tweaks. Would appreciate comments, "good, bad, why bother?" or anything else you might like to say or suggest. Thanks!

I played around for it for a minute in Lightroom:

Thanks. Do you use Lightroom?

I just started working with it a few days ago and going through the "crash course" that came with it. I like what you did, the water looks more transparent. The underwater stones pop out more, and the color is more effective and less distracting.

Keep at it. Lightroom is a great tool. I think you'll like it.

Would you mind letting me know what you did? A great adjustment. I must have a penchant for warm colors. But your contrast-y image was definitely the way to go.

I see you cropped it a little bit on the right, that was a good idea. I thought about taking out that entire patch in the upper right corner, but I like that you were satisfied with just taking out most of it, so it's not noticeable. That's a great lesson right there.

The adjustments I made with Lightroom (5.6):

Black -74
Clarity +69
Shadows -55
Highlights +50
Contrast +50
Crop (I prefer something closer to square than the 35mm aspect ratio)
Blue Saturation +33
Red Saturation +69
Orange Saturation +51
Post Crop Vignette (just a little to slightly darken the edges and corners)

That's it.

Thanks. I appreciate that info. (Religion at its best is not opposed to those things. It's just that it seldom shows itself at its best).
