Could someone look at the chart and tell me which Filter Size Adapter Ring I need for the following lens set up?

http://www.formatt-hitechusa.com/photo-kits/nd-starter-filter-kit

I have a 52mm a 58MM a 67MM and a 77mm (telephoto lens.) While I doubt I will ever use an adapter ring on the 77mm telephoto lens, would the choice be to buy one to fit the 67mm to 58mm and another 67mm to 52mm? I find the whole adapter ring issue confusing and could use some help here. Currently I just own polarizing filters and I will be taking a lot of water shots both on the ocean and in the mountains.

Thanks for your help.

Buy the filter for the largest lens screw mount, ( 77mm) then get the stepping rings to fit that filter to all other lenses. Any other way and you could get viginetting/cut-off using a smaller filter size. And you get 'step-up filter rings'.

Thanks, but go back to the chart I sent and tell me which one please. I don't understand the hyphenated number. There is a 85mm-77mm and a 100mm-77mm? Those appear to be step-up adapters.

The first number is the filter width; the second is the adapter size..

rib2002 is correct - the left column is the filter size, the right column is the size of the lens’ filter thread. And you are correct - the right column are all step-up rings, or adapters if you wish.

I just purchased this set: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1291534-REG/nisi_kit_v5_v5_100mm_filter_holder.html and it comes with 3 adapter rings and any additional you need are available on Amazon. The only adapter I added to my set was the 52-83mm ring:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017SD5NNA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is a solid set and it has a polarizer built in (it can be removed if needed). It's a little heavy but it's built like a tank. I picked up a couple of Zomei graduated filters to try them out, they were inexpensive but had fairly good ratings. The main reason I purchased this was to use both graduated filters and solid ND filters and it works well for both.

Could someone look at the chart and tell me which ... (show quote)

Get one each, from the smallest to the next size up, that way all you need is 1 filter for all, simple!

CALL THE VENDOR! Tell them the filter sizes of all your lenses and the type of filter(s) you want. Ask the vendor what size filter(s) you need and the appropriate stepping rings you need. That way you get what you need with no guessing on your part about size or step up vs step down, etc

That's my WAG

Good luck

Using step rings and switching the filter from one lens to the next is a pain. The the filter for each lens. I know it's more expensive, but you'll be happier.

The reason I purchased the NISI filter holder was to get away from a plethora of individual lens filters that were hard to carry with me. I like the ability to just swap out the filter holder and change filter as needed and I only need on type of each filter, not one type of each filter for each lens. I generally carry 3 to 5 lenses with me on some shoots and it gets confusing. The other thing about the filter holder is the flexibility when you are using graduated filters, it's something you don't have with fixed graduated filters.
