You will want a wide angle lens before leaving on your trip.
Welcome. Study, practice and study some more. Take lots and lots of pictures. You won't like them all but some you will think are pretty darn good.
Welcome - I look forward to seeing some of the photos from your trip.
Welcome to UHH Latasha, glad you joined us. Read your camera manual and then read it again. Try the tutorials on the Nikon website and also Utube. When using Utube be brand and model specific. With that being said, get out and shoot some images with your camera.
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum.

Welcome, Latasha. May I also suggest that for the Grand Canyon you will also want a good wideangle and/or learn the "panorama" technique offered by many modern cameras, probably yours included. Of course, the newer cell phones have excellent wide angle images and the pano function. I use that on my iPhone a lot.
Enjoy the satisfaction of making pictures and don't let the occasional frustration stop you.

Welcome to the forum. It is hard to take a bad photo at the Grand Canyon, but you will definitely want a wider angle lens for some of your pictures. Also, practice and you will likely get some of the best pictures you will ever take, especially early morning and late afternoon.
Welcome! Looking forward to your posts and pictures. Happy shooting!
