We have no control over the weather. IMHO when you have water and clouds something magical happens and sunrise or sunset. There were many folks out to watch the sunset over the pacific on this evening. It must be kind of a ritual on evenings when there isn't any fog.

Thanks Carol. Fortunately we'd been to the cypress grove for a wedding a few years ago. I thought the trees would make a nice frame for the sunset. Everyone else watched from the point, so I got my shots and avoided the crowds.

The weather changes so quickly at the coast, you might plan on watching the sunset only to have fog move in at the last moment or have the sun disappear behind a fog bank on the horizon. We lucked out, and it was fun to stand on the edge of a cliff to watch while the masses were out on the point with their cell phone shots. LOL
