Purchased this unit...my first flash purchase for my Nikon. Worked fine first 1 1/2 hour... Day 2...Could not adjust the flash level.
Turn dial, nothing happens.
Called B&H...They sent me a shipping label. "Send it back, we'll send you another."
The day before I ordered a 2nd flash for this unit. Now I will have 2 flashes and 1 controller when they all come.
But now I am a bit "paranoid"... "Shooting a wedding or anything... everything craps out..OMG.." Everyone take a 2 hour break, I need to go buy another flash..NOT...Of course I need to have these things work.

Did I buy the wrong flash, or just got the "one lemon?"....Any suggestions?....

I have that same exact flash, in the M4/3 version, high on my wish list!

One general rule of thumb with electronics used to be that the failure rate is higher in the first few hours. If still working in a week, they will probably work for a long time.

Nissin gets good reviews. B&H backs up everything they sell. I would say you should stay on course, use your two flashes aggressively for two or three weeks and then decide.

The rule of thumb for any wedding photographer is multiple back ups. Anything can fail anytime. Good reason to be paranoid. Make sure you have at least 2 complete systems that work on a very reliable basis.

Make sure that the drop-down diffuser is fully inserted in the storage position. The speedlight increases output when it detects the diffuser is deployed.

I got one in the mail today. The replacement with the Air 1 should be here in a few days. I'll power em' up.
Hopefully all will be ok....

Nissin make good products, but failures do occur. Chances of getting another bad one are slim to none.

Call B&H customer service, repeat the above and your new flash will be on it's way before you can say "boo".

Which is exactly why any "real" wedding photog has a lot of backup gear. Extra flashes, cameras, lenses, as well as plenty of memory cards and a box full of spare batteries!

Folks with a single camera, kit zoom and a flash (God forbid it only be a wimpy little "built-in") should NEVER tackle on a paid wedding job!

And an assistant to carry all that.

When I bought my first flash for my DSLR I was like a kid in the candy store. I popped off photo after photo after photo (you get the idea) and would up burning out the flash! A few days later I read about flashes overheating, etc. Now when I shoot models (with the camera), I use two manual flashes on each light stand (with diffuser) and shoot at 1/2 the normal power for each flash. Faster recycle, batteries last longer, flash units don't overheat!

I'm not saying you fried your flash. I'm saying that I fried my first flash.
