I need a recommendation on a table top tripod

I'm looking for a reasonably priced table top tripod that will hold 6+ pounds.

I've seen a number of tripods that rate close to six or right at six. How critical is the maximum load? The heaviest weight I can imagine for my uses is just an ounce or two over six pounds; a Nikon D7100 with a Tamron 150-600 (yeah, I have a plan) so maximum height is an issue as well. For most of my work I would be using a 60mm, so six pounds would be more than sufficient.

Suggestions, please?

I guess the next piece of information would be to ask, "how low do you need to be?" You did say tabletop but I'm not sure if you're shooting out or down nor do I know how big the table is (or if you really need to be on it with your tripod to accomplish your 'mission').

I'm currently using a Manfrotto 055 with a Manfrotto #222 pistol grip ball head. The tripod more than meets your needs but I wouldn't say it's a table top model as it extends exceptionally high to suit my 6'6" frame while being capable of photographing as close to the ground as you may need to get.

Try this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01442K15I/ref=twister_B00USWRUBW?_encoding=UTF8&th=1 on the page you will see it comes in several colors, with the included head it holds 11 lbs

I went looking for this brand: Promaster model TTS522. ( https://promaster.com ) Which also holds 11 lbs - the local store was out of stock That link goes to the main page > go to products then under tripods click on Professional and it is on that page.

I ended up getting this model XC525, it is a good light tripod that holds 22 lbs, they had it in stock, if I really get into tabletop work I will get one of the two above and pass this one to my rather petite daughter who doesn't have a decent tripod-this one is more than enough for her T2i and 70-300 This one comes with a bit better ballhead as a kit and has a second 3" center column for getting low, but with the regular column goes to 59" max height, more than enough for my 5'3" daughter.

I like the GorillaPods, and this Manfrotto.

Someone recommended a beautiful Leica, but it may not be available, and it cost almost $200.

Cut the legs off a sturdy tripod for the size you want and put a rubber tips on the ends. I made this one to make photos from my kitchen window with my 600 mm lens,

Hummm, how about a sand bag** or perhaps two small ones? They do not shake. Table top work can even use books to support lenses. Yes, open the book to adjust height via fewer pages.

** ebay or Amazon. Also use washed pea gravel, too big to get into your DSLR!

I keep a 75 lb bag of sand in the living room, just in case.

Leica makes the best and most expensive one. Two pieces, with leica ball head 18 with locking mechanism. Be the best $300.00 you ever spent. Love mine, course mine cost $125.00 back in 1974.

I have a MeFoto Road trip that is only 12 in tall at minimum height. 61 in is the maximum. There are other smaller models also. The Road trip holds 17 lbs.

I just know of some table tops from RRS, Induro, or PMG, but I would neither call reasonable priced ( there all in the $400+ range). I hope somebody know some cheaper alternatives and I wish you good luck!

I would suggest the Really Right Stuff TFA-01 Pocket 'Pod with the RRS BH-25 ballhead for about $200 to $275. The tripod is rated for 100 pounds and the ballhead for 4 kg = 8.8 lb. Great combo. If you want to go to 15 lb th consider the BH-30 which would increase the cost by $100 for each option.
I have the BH-25 on a Gorilla Pod, but am considering adding the TFA-01 to my kit. Another option from RRS is the BC-18 Pocket 'Pod Package for about$200 which has a load capacity of 10 lb. check these out on the RRS website.
