Thanks for your feedback carlysue. I have to say, Rouen, along with Lyon in the South are my 2 favourite French cities, I would choose to visit either over Paris any day. As for the history, like most cities there is far more good a beautiful history than bad and the Cathedral in Rouen is just so beautiful and was so wonderfully captured by Monet, who's house at Giverny is not far from here, and if you should ever get there, apart from Monet House with the ponds and water lilies there is a superb museum of the works of the American Impressionist Painters.

I love the brick street, seems a wonderful place to walk about. Not a lot one can do about it's own history, just try to do better and not allow it to repeat.
