A couple of weeks ago we were lucky to visit the Texas Gulf coast. It's a great destination if you like water and birds. Port Aransas has several "bird walks" which are a great way to get close to ducks and other shore birds. (A big bonus for a boy from Illinois was to end the day eating fresh seafood on a deck overlooking the ocean.)

Great images! I was there a few weeks ago also...for the Whooping Crane Festival. Did you have dinner at Doc's? :)

Thank you Laura. Didn't eat at Docs. First night we ate at a very casual place called the Oyster House. (Loved the oysters on the half shell with a great horseradish sauce.) Second night we ate at Paradise Key Dockside Bar and Grille. Can't remember the next place we went but I had Grouper for the first time and now have a new co-favorite fish (tied with fresh Alaska Halibut.)
Sounds yummy! Port A is my favorite place to go birding...there and Anahuac!
Very nice picture of the Blue Teal. Hard to get these guys on a fly by. Your shot shows their colors about as well as could have been done. Unfortunately every time I have been to Port Aransas with a camera, it is raining or at least misting, so pictures always a little hazy. Will try again in Feb of 2018.
