I am using a Canon 70D camera. When I shoot a picture it seems the picture is placed toward the left side.I am wondering if anyone else is having a same or similar problem.I don't believe it is me as I had no problem with a Canon 40D. It happens with the Tamron 16/300 lens. I appreciate any answers and/or suggestions. Thanks.

Are your focus points in the middle? Just look through the viewfinder and see where they are in relation to the center of the frame.

If you mean the image is framed with the left side further to the left than you composed in the viewfinder it is possible you are twisting/moving the camera when you press the shutter without even realizing you are doing it. Try framing with the camera clamped down tight on a tripod and either use a remote or the 10 sec timer to take the shot and see if the same thing happens. Have someone watch you to see if you are moving the camera. If you are twisting it even a few degrees that will move the left side of the image a fair amount.

The way to test this would be to place it on a tripod and compose with a frame of reference. Then you could see whether the viewfinder is misrepresenting what you end up with.

Put the camera on a tripod or other non-moving support. Frame carefully, and shoot. Can you try shooting with another camera?

Could be a sensor knocked out of position. A small impact against a solid object (like a wall) can cause this. It happened to me. The tests suggested by other members should tell you the answer.
