Vets - friends who have put their lives on the line for their country.
Call it a challenge if you like, but let me suggest that you post pictures of your veteran family members and friends. I further recommend that when you have a chance take pictures of these friends and family. Someday they will be gone as some of my friends posted here have done. You will then have the pictures to enhance your memories. Semper Fi.

I served during Korea. But never set foot on Korea. Did my whole tour of duty out of Cuba. The only action we seen is when we blew the gun running boats out of the water between Cuba and South America.
Thats me on the left.
Dad was Air Force (Army Air Corps at the time) sitting at Hickam Field Dec. 7th, 1941. He was a squadron commander flying B24's. He went to and flew out of Tripoli in North Africa to bomb Germany when he was shot down. Spent 3 years as a POW. Escaped 3 times, recaptured twice. Finally liberated while hiding in a barn by the British. Flew combat Fighters in Korea as well. Lost him in 1998. 35-year Vet. My older Brother, Nieces and a Nephew are all Air Force and served from early 60's to the last one getting out about 3 years ago. I was the 'Black Sheep' of the Family and am the only Navy man in the family (66-69) SALUTE to all former, and present Service Women and Nen. Thank You all for your service.
This is my Dad. He was among the first drafted for WWII, was at Pearl Harbor and the Normandy invasion. For Normandy, he was on the Nevada and kept a journal. He died about 40 years ago from what I now think had to do with PTSD. I've transcribed the journal to a PDF that I email to anyone interested. Send me your email via PM and I'll send you Dad's journal. He was a great dad when I was a kid. All that is left now is a few photos and the journal. I miss the hell out of him!
Thank you to all the veterans who have and are now serving our country. Bless you all!
Judgerock great post! All the pictures are great...
JudgeRock: Great idea. I am within a month of my 90th birthday. About all I have left are the memories. I was Navy right at the end of WWII. One brother was Marine Corp, another was Air Force. One grandson is Marine Corp, another is Army Reserve. Various cousins, neices and nephews are or were in various branches of military service Guess you could call us a military family. You have reminded me that I better be sending out some pictures to those who are left before I make the final journey. Thank you.
