Monday on my walk I noticed a storm sewer grate mostly blocked by debris, including a lot of black walnut fruit. I knew that the city would eventually send a street cleaner truck which would deposit all this stuff in the dump, but I thought perhaps I could speed up the process. Tuesday I took my camera and plastic bags with me, took picture #1 and scooped most of the stuff into the bags. I was busy yesterday, but today I dumped the debris into a bucket of water and piled the clean fruit on our deck table {picture #2}. I had planned on dumping this fruit on the hillside at the back of our property, but the new neighbor's dogs interrupted my cleaning, so I'm thinking the squirrels may prefer that I place smaller quantities on the raised squirrel feeder we have.

Are those icicles hanging on the metal panels? Looks mighty cold!

You're quite right, Judy! It was a miserable, muddy assignment. But I was able to leave after taking the photos, while the crew continued working for the rest of their project. My client supplied those metal shields.

Cool windows in that building,Tom!

That building is an old First National Bank building and now it's restored and rented out for various occasions.
It has also been used in the House of Cards series with Kevin Spacey. I've seen it several times on that show. In one episode, Spacey was using it for campaigning and a crowd was in there asking him questions.
The building is in Havre de Grace, MD located on the Chesapeake bay at the top of the bay where it intersects with the Susquehanna River.
It's an attractive and quaint little town and I've been there several times. It's only a 20-25 minute ride north of me off of I-95.
Here's an interior shot. Look at the doorway floor and you'll see the engraving in the floor entryway.
"House of Cards" has been filming in various parts of Havre de Grace and the surrounding areas for a few years now. It's fun to watch the show and look for something familiar.

I'm from Indiana, and I hope you don't mind, but the are not black walnuts. They are Sweet Gum seed pods. Great texture though!

Whatever they are, I've seen squirrels eat them by the dozen.
