Ladder-backed Woodpecker

This Ladder-backed Woodpecker visited the tree next to our motorhome a few days ago. We are in South Texas near the Bentsen Palm Birding State Park. He or she thought she was a model when I started shooting right out my open window. You won't see this woodpecker in too many places outside of Texas and the Southwest. Interesting how they can turn a good hair day into a bad hair day just like that!

Nice bird. I love the composition showing the woodpecker's environment, but with a clear view of the bird.
