Last weekend we attended a Lance Travel Trailer rally at Usery State Park in Mesa Arizona, only a few miles from our home. Any time we go camping I set up feeders to see what the desert will bring in and I was really pleased to see this mated couple of Gambel Quails come to the site. The first is the male and the 2nd photo is the female. I think this is the best photo I have of a female Gambel Quail, she's beautiful...
I hope you Enjoy the photo's, I haven't posted anything in a long time!

Yes, they are beauties. And I never thought of taking a natural looking feeder along on road trips. Good idea.

So beautiful- regal. In my area quail have pretty much lost their habitat. Thank you for posting these.
I live in Lake Havasu and we see lots of quail. I think they're my favorite desert critter. The bird feeder is a great idea and you got some great photos.
Thanks for all the comments... I always take a regular bird feeder and hummingbird feeders. I not only load up the regular feeder but also put a lot of feed on the ground and on the perches. Bark butter works great for the back side of branches. I'll take a knife, carve out a little notch on the back side of a branch and put seed or bark butter there so it's hidden from camera view. Here are some other pics take at the same location using this method.
Great idea on the feeder and beautiful pictures

Yes, very attractive monzi.
Very nice, Rob. I was out close that area last weekend, as well. It was a great day for photographing.

Very nice images. Did you have to pay the little fellas for posing? They sure did a good job and you captured them well.
