I'm an intermediate photographer and probably not even an advanced one. As it is now I've read tons of books, listened to a thousand hours of instructive videos and bought at least 5 five course on photography. I started as an absolute beginner about 3 years ago. I'm now at a point where I am buying instructional material that spends a lot time going over stuff I already know. What's next? What books or other instructive material would help me get to the next level. I'm already studying books on art but I don't know if I have the best ones for photography. Please advise?

I would say that the biggest potential for improvement is our compositions. One of the ways we can improve is by viewing art. Painters create these with intention; photographers too often do not approach their work (or art, if you please) with intention. By viewing art, we have the possibility of engaging our minds and thinking about the construction of art-- the composing of elements. We can then chose where we stand when we frame a landscape and what elements we choose to include/exclude. Sometimes this happens without a conscious awareness that it has happened. When we have these thoughts/experiences/knowledge on the bookshelf in our brain it is there for us to draw on in a moment of inspiration. If not, we get something that looks like everyone else's picture of the Grand Canyon.

I just thought of something frighting Mare, that photo you gave me of the cat and deer is hanging in my bedroom over my bed, tell me this guy didn't take this photo. Still my favorite photo by the way.

Marylnn,

I am probably fighting a loosing battle here but if you knew me you would know for certain that I have no idea how to go about removing anyone's EXIF Data or watermark for that matter. SO much of what I do in those programs is usually supervised by my daughter or best friend.

As it is now I apologize as much as can. I am truly as sorry and as humiliated as I can be.

I will wait until everyone gets a chance to respond in whatever way they want and then I will leave the group. I hope that helps.

You would serve your cause a little tiny bit better if you took the effort to spell Marilyn's name properly and show a little respect. But, you keep digging...

Let us know when you reach Australia and we can set up a reception party for you!

Allen, this is a good example of why reading the entire thread is important.

Your comment: "When we have these thoughts/experiences/knowledge on the bookshelf in our brain it is there for us to draw on in a moment of inspiration. If not, we get something that looks like everyone else's picture of the Grand Canyon" is quite ironic at this point in the thread!

I know your post was well intentioned, but the last few pages have been quite, err, enlightening!

True, but the Aussies have a fairly strict immigration policy these days, they don't do 'transportation' any more!

You have no need. We know who needs to apologize and grovel if he can deal with that many syllables.

Better prop it up with something tonight or pound a railroad spike into the wall to hold it up. If it makes it past the midnight hour, i'd think you are safe.

While I don't think there's anything cool about bkellyusa's actions, it looks to me like it should be between him and colo43 at this point. It doesn't look like he intended to profit from his actions, putting it on Flickr so there doesn't seem to be any monetary loss and he has taken his Flickr page down. Some of you seem to have some pent up vengeance of your own to deal with but bkellyusa hasn't done anything to you. I would call on you to disperse and stop the tar and feathering. We aren't sure if we're playing with a full deck here or not. You could stand to display a little more charity in this unknown situation, especially those of you who aren't directly involved. Having a friend who is slighted in some manner does not give us the right to attack someone who has done nothing to us.

I beg to differ, first off getting sucked into a thread that you think is posted by a credible member only to find out he is a thief and a fraud involves us all. If such action is not confronted by all members of this forum then the credibility of the forum is in question. It is not our job to play psychologist, it is our job to keep the site credible, and I don't appreciate being talk down to.
