Shell, and other oil companies, have known about the dangers of global warming fore years, and Shell even made a film about the danger in 1991.

most "old" people know it also.... when i was a kid snow was around ALL winter.... each year it seems to get warmer with less snow on the ground....and summers seem to be hotter with less rain.... i am talking on average.....we went sledding and snowmobiling ALL winter.... i haven't seen a sled or snowmobile
for the last three years.... the only snowmobile i have seen this year was with a "for sale" on it... and it still sits there.

I don't mind the reduction in snow, and I liked the week we just had with temperatures in the upper 60s.

I've traveled to see glaciers in both Alaska and New Zealand in the last few years and their accelerating melt rate is astounding. In fact on a small National Geographic cruise ship in Glacier National Park one can now cruise over a glacial moraine now at the bottom of a 15' channel of water which only a few years ago was dry land at the foot of the glacier. It is now calving huge chunks of ice so fast that one can be guaranteed to get shots of massive ice falls sitting on the deck of the boat at the foot of the glacier for less than an hour. In New Zealand one has to walk several miles to get to the foot of a glacier that less than 20 years ago was at the head of the trail. When I hear people tell me that "global warming is a Chinese hoax" I'm amazed at the ability of the Chinese to melt massive glaciers so quickly. Truly they own the the 21st century.

By the way, there is only one glacier in Alaska left that is not diminishing in ice mass and that is because it is entirely above the permanent freeze line of 9,000 feet. All the rest of them are shrinking at an accelerating rate. By the end of the century the world will have very few glaciers left and the Antarctic dessert will once again see temperate climate plants. Many places in the tropics will be uninhabitable and southern Arizona is predicted by the latest climate models to have several months a year where it will be too hot to survive a day in the sun unprotected. Those Chinese! Very clever. Maybe they own the cruise lines now scheduling guaranteed summer passage through the fabled Northwest Passage from the Pacific to the Atlantic so that's why they're doing this to us.

Very few scientists deny that the climate is changing . . . again.

There is a reason that it's called Greenland and there are ancient maps of Antarctica without the ice and North America without the Mississippi delta and South America without the Amazon Delta.

The real unanswered question is if man is really causing it and the probable futile belief that we can do anything to stop it.

The reason it's called Greenland is that an Icelandic murderer exiled there called it Greenland hoping that the name would attract settlers. It actually was green about 3 million years ago, but then again with all the melting ice, the sea level was about 100 feet higher than today. The map of Antarctica without ice dates back about 35 million years when sea level was more than 250 feet above today's level.

Whether man is causing the change has been answered - and the answer is yes. Anthropogenic CO2 emissions have driven the atmospheric levels from about 280 before the industrial revolution to more than 400 today - and that causes warming. 9 of hottest years on record have occurred during the past 10 years.

Hi Folks,
I'm Larry 68. Ive been lurking for a while and soaking up some knowledge here at UHH. I finally came out of the lurking mode to add a little interesting info here.

http://www.longrangeweather.com/global_temperatures.htm

I have studied this issue for a long time, and I know the climate is changing. I've seen it in my lifetime! But you can't use one lifetime to measure very much of anything that is as old as our Earth!
If you can find any solid info from anywhere that contradicts with this link please post a link here. Oh and the source can't end in .gov.

“Climate change” an appallingly stupid euphemism. The climate is always changing. The environmentalists are the real climate-change “deniers” because they basically want global temperatures to maintain absolute static relative to 1970—not coincidentally the point at which environmentalists first began paying any attention to the issue. Earth's climate may be the single most complex thing we've ever studied. Tens of thousands, possibly millions, of variables, all interacting in countless ways including countless feedback loops. Utterly unknown upper-atmosphere processes. Equally unknown oceanographic effects. And the climate "scientists" want to pretend all that damn-near-infinite complexity doesn't exist and claim it's all about CO2.

I am proud to report that I survived the coming ice age that Jimmy Carter, his fellow leftists, and the consensus of scientists were screaming about in the '70's and '80's. I expect I shall soon be able to report that I also survived the "Global Warming" hysteria so di rigueur with today's leftists.

David, all you said is correct and much better said than I could have. I think the people who believe the global warming scare tactics of the left get their info from the evening news, and don't go looking for other information on their own. I remember the "Global Cooling" fear they were putting out in the 70s. And I believe that Time Magazine had a cover story about the "coming ice age"! It has been much colder in the past, ice ages. And it has been much hotter in the past too. If people would just spend a bit of time reading, they would know that. Oh, and I'll bet they never heard of Phil Jones or the emails either. At least we all believe in good photography! ;-)
