Photoshop Express but now a Mac!!

I have, for years used an iPad with Photoshop Express, and loved it. I have now switched from a Windows desktop, and bought a Macbook Pro. Having heeded years of Hedgehog advice, I upgraded it from an I5 to an I7, and 8 to 16gigs. I am looking for an upgrade from Photoshop Express, to something not horribly difficult, but that I can slowly grow into, not necessarily by Adobe, and no subscriptions. Tempting in a way to go to Lightroom, as I keep reading about how good it is at organising, and I have 6,000 to 7,000 pix to organise!! Any thoughts, please?

PS Elements 15 should bit your needs nicely. No subscription most of PS function for photo editing is in PS E. You are new to a Mac but don't overlook Photos, the free app. Lesa Snider "Photos for Mac and IOS" the missing manual is excellent at explaining all its capabilities in terms of organization. The great thing is it doesn't need to take up heaps of HD space either as it just references where all your 6000 to 7000 images are stored now.
Enjoy your Mac.
Oh yes, even Preview the other free app on Macs does many basic things well including resizing for when you are wanting to put an image on a web site.

Thanks so much cyclespeed, I will check out Photos and Preview, and Lesa Snider's book. Am gradually moving pix to an external hard drive, but there's an awful lot of culling to be done !!

Have a look at DxO, Luminar, On1 and Affinity, they all do raw conversions and editing. You can also get the NIK suite free from Google which can be freestanding or a plug in to many programs. But Nik means using the different components to edit images, but it is free.

The Photos program that comes free with Macs is very good. Also look at Macphun. Macphun Luminar is an outstanding program, There is also Macphun Creative Kit and Macphun Aurora HDR. All Macphun programs are made specifically for Macs.

I am also a Mac user who recently started using Photoshop Elements and I love it. I tried to use the organizer but had some problems so for now at least I went back to the old iPhoto organizer on an external drive but use PSE for all of my editing. It adds an extra step and iPhoto does not stack the images like PSE. If anyone knows of another organizing program I would be interested.

Thanks. Seems as though it is coming down to Macphun Luminar, partly because it is linked to FX Photo Studio, but also because they are working on an organising system for release later. My wife has used Elements on Windows for years and quite likes it, but she finds it is slow. Would live to try iPhoto, but it is not in the new apps, so I don't have it!! Pity, I gather it was very good.
