Foreign Amazon Sites

I have bought quite a few things from Amazon in other countries. There were several English TV shows that were not shown in their entirety in the USA, but I found them on the English Amazon site. Last night, I finished watching one season of a French Agatha Christie series, all that's available here. Going to the French Amazon, I found all the other seasons available. The USA uses Region 1 DVD code, and most of Europe uses Region 2. I had no trouble playing the English DVDs in my DVD player, so the French should also work.

I noticed a major mistake in the episode I watched last night. A man said that he had gold coins worth 30,000 Euros. The show was set in the 1960s, and Euros didn't come about till almost forty years later. One thing I liked about the final episode of Season 1 was the Facel Vega driven by the French detective. You don't see many of those.

EDIT: By the way, if you need a windshield wiper bottle for your Facel Vega, there is one available on ebay.

If you are referring to Hercule Poirot driving the Facel Vega...he is Belgian.

Interesting. Luckily, I found out that the films from France are closed-captioned only in French. I'll save my money.

The differences will show (actually not,as they simply would not play), once you run into shows that either use SECAM or Pal, you need a multi-norm-player for that. (I use one, so I can paly anything that comes from Germany)!

One or more of my DVD players is region-free, so it plays foreign discs. Without English captions, non-English DVDs aren't worth watching.

If I'm not mistaken DVD players are programed to switch location 5 times, then lock on the last one? You'd be better off having a separate unit for EURO DVD's.

Computers can do that, and the locking is permanent. Even reinstalling the OS won't get you more plays. Region 1 DVD players will play only Region 1. Fortunately, there are many Region Free units available.
