I have a Sony DSC hx 300 and want an easy book to learn about using more than automatic mode.
It should have illustrations....and explanations not written by an expert...which often leaves out step assuming you understand.
I like to photograph birds, flowers...using macro...and zooming in. Often times they are blurry.

I'll second that recommendation.

Stop by your local public library. My neighborhood library has an entire section on photography, which includes dozens of how-to books.

An older book that teaches from the basic starting point is "Mastering Digital SLR Photography" by David Busch. It is from 2008 (2nd ed.) but the concepts are all still the same. It can be found on Amazon, here is a link for the most current 4th edition.

Bryan Peterson, "Learning To See Creatively" and "Understanding Photography Field Guide - Great Photographs With Any Camera". His "Understanding Exposure" book previously mentioned by UHH member, Linda From Maine" is also excellent.

In addition to the solid suggestions above, don't overlook Youtube. Tons of stuff there with free subscriptions to many solid resources. For a subscription fee, Lynda.com is very good. I especially enjoy Ben Long. Good luck and enjoy.

Google what you want, and you will find uncountable free online resources. In some cases, these can be more helpful than a book. >Alan

I have not researched your ?, but I would bet if you go to YouTube for your camera there are useful bits of videos there. Peterson guides as mentioned are excellent as well, used them for my classes years ago.

As starter, get a Dummies book. Simple to read, lots of illustrations, tips, etc..

Try Jared Polin on Youtube. He has a video called "How to get off Auto" . He has other videos too such as "Understanding Manual Photography"
Don't let his haiR style scare u away. He's very good for the beginner.

Sorry, but it looks like you won't be able to spend money on a book. If Amazon doesn't have one, I doubt anyone does.

On the other hand, there is a lot of free instruction available.
